Now Pakistan wants a Nobel Prize—this is a strange demand. It would have been better to limit it solely to loans.

A bill has been presented in the Punjab Assembly of Pakistan, demanding that the prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif; the army chief, Asim Munir; and the foreign minister, Ishaq Dar, be awarded the Nobel Prize.

Pakistan is praising itself unnecessarily, and people on social media are making fun of it.

Pakistan should not be thinking about the Nobel Prize right now. Instead, it should focus on important issues like petrol, diesel, and gas shortages. The country does not have enough of these essential resources, and it should prioritize improving them so that its citizens get some relief.

At present, the people of Pakistan are struggling on the streets, while the leaders are talking about the Nobel Prize, which is not appropriate for the current situation.

What is in the bill?

The bill has been presented in the Punjab Assembly by a leader of the ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League (N), Rana Arshad.

It states that during the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States, Pakistan played a strong diplomatic role in helping to bring about a ceasefire through its foreign policy efforts.

Because of this, the bill demands that the Prime Minister, the Army Chief, and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan be awarded the Nobel Prize.

Pakistan’s claim of mediating between Iran and the United States:

The conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States has paused for a few days, with a two-week ceasefire agreement reportedly reached after weeks of tension.

Pakistan, along with Turkey and Egypt, has claimed to have played a role in facilitating the ceasefire.

Pakistan has stated that its mediation efforts helped in achieving the ceasefire. However, there are differing views, with some suggesting that Pakistan mainly acted as a communication channel between the United States and Iran, while China is also believed to have played a significant role behind the scenes.

On the coming Friday, a meeting between Iran and the United States is expected to take place in the capital of Pakistan, reportedly Islamabad.

From the U.S. side, JD Vance is expected to participate, making this one of the most significant visits by a senior American leader to Pakistan since 2011.

According to media reports, it is also being said that without the role of China, this ceasefire may not have been possible.

Meanwhile, Israel has raised questions about Pakistan’s role in the process.

It remains to be seen what results come out of this meeting—whether the conflict will finally end or escalate again.
