The Indian Post Live exists to give readers accurate, fair and clearly explained news from India and around the world.
Our readers' trust is the most important thing we have. Every journalist, editor and contributor who works with us is expected to follow the standards on this page.
These standards apply to everything we publish: news articles, live updates, explainers, reviews and social media posts.
Accuracy first.
Credit every source.
Correct openly.
Getting it right matters more than getting it first. Before publishing, we:
Check names, numbers, dates, quotes and locations against reliable sources.
Seek confirmation from more than one source for important or sensitive claims, wherever possible.
Make clear what is confirmed, what is reported by others, and what is still developing.
Never publish rumours, unverified social media posts or doctored images as fact.
During fast-moving events, early reports can change. We update stories as new information becomes available and show the time of the latest update.
When a story is based on reporting first published by a news agency or another outlet, we say so and credit the original source. Each article lists its main source where applicable.
We do not copy other publishers' work. When we use information from other reports, we rewrite it in our own words, add context, and attribute it clearly.
We rely on established news agencies, official statements and named sources. When a report is based on unnamed or unconfirmed sources, we say so clearly, so readers can judge the information for themselves.
Our editorial decisions are made independently of political parties, governments, advertisers and business interests. No one outside our newsroom decides what we cover or how.
We present relevant points of view fairly, especially on political and social issues.
When reporting serious allegations, we include the response of those involved where it is available, and say so when it could not be obtained.
Opinion and analysis pieces are clearly labelled as "Opinion" or "Analysis", so readers can tell them apart from news.
Our journalists do not accept gifts, payments or favours that could influence their reporting. If a writer has a personal, financial or family connection to a subject they are covering, they must tell an editor, who will decide whether they should step away from the story or whether the connection should be disclosed to readers.
We make mistakes, and when we do, we fix them openly.
Corrected as soon as they are confirmed, with a note at the end of the article explaining what changed.
Spelling or formatting changes may be made without a note.
Corrected with a clear correction note, and the headline is updated if needed.
We do not quietly remove stories to hide mistakes. Articles are removed only in rare cases, such as legal requirements or serious risk to someone's safety.
We may use technology tools, including artificial intelligence, to help with tasks such as translation, transcription, summaries or suggesting headlines.
AI is never a substitute for journalism. Every article is reviewed and approved by a human editor before publication, and our editorial team remains fully responsible for everything we publish. We do not use AI to create fake quotes, images of real events, or content presented as original reporting.
We respect people's privacy and intrude only when there is a clear public interest.
We do not identify victims of sexual offences, and take special care when reporting on children, in line with Indian law.
We avoid graphic images and details unless essential to the story, and add warnings where appropriate.
Reported responsibly, without describing methods, and with helpline details such as Tele-MANAS (14416).
Advertising and news are kept separate. Advertisers and sponsors have no influence over our news coverage.
We occasionally publish paid or sponsored articles. These are always clearly labelled "Sponsored", so readers can tell them apart from our journalism. Our editors review sponsored content before publication, and we do not publish paid content that is false, misleading or unlawful.
We welcome feedback from readers. If you believe something we published is inaccurate, unfair or breaks these standards, please tell us.
Contact us through our Contact Us page, include a link to the article and explain your concern. Our editorial team reviews every complaint and responds as quickly as possible. If a correction is needed, we will make it following the policy above. To learn more about who we are, visit our About Us page.
Standards are only as good as the people who keep them.
We hold ourselves accountable.
