RCB has been purchased by a business consortium consisting of the Aditya Birla Group, Times Group, Blackstone, and Bolt Ventures. The deal was valued at ₹16,700 crore, acquiring 100% ownership of the team. Aryaman Birla will now serve as the team’s chairman.

When talking about the most famous teams in the IPL, RCB’s name definitely comes up. The team now has a new owner—Aditya Birla Group, Times Group, Blackstone, and Bolt Ventures have jointly purchased RCB. The deal was valued at $1.78 billion, which amounts to ₹16,700 crore in Indian rupees.

Earlier, another IPL team was purchased by an American businessman. The first-season winner, Rajasthan Royals, was bought for ₹15,000 crore. This means that in a single day, two IPL teams got new owners—something that has never happened before in IPL history.

According to a Cricbuzz report, this RCB deal was made with United Spirits Limited (a subsidiary of Diageo), transferring 100% ownership to the new consortium. The deal also includes the WPL (women’s team), meaning that both RCB’s men’s and women’s teams’ ownership has been handed over to these four groups.

New RCB Leader:

Aryaman Vikram Birla (Aditya Birla Group) can be the chairman of RCB, and Satyan Gajwani (Times Group) can be the vice-chairman. Finally, David Blitzer (Bolt Ventures) and Viral Patel (Blackstone) are also included in the ownership.

There are still some approvals pending:

It is not yet appropriate to call this deal complete, as it still requires approvals from the BCCI, the Competition Commission of India, and other regulatory authorities.

Regarding this deal, the team’s owners have made some statements.

1:- Mangalam Birla, chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, said that IPL has been giving a new direction to cricket for the past 20 years. Joining this team is a big deal, and we will continue to uphold and advance the team’s legacy.
2:- Satyan Gajwani of the Times Group said that RCB is not just a team but a brand and one of the most popular teams. Their goal is to make it a global sports brand.
3:- David Blitzer of Bolt Ventures said that RCB has a very large fan base and is the most famous team in the IPL world.
4:- Viral Patel of Blackstone said that RCB is a strong brand, and we have many opportunities to take it further.

Defending champions:

In IPL 2025, RCB defeated Punjab to become the winners, marking the first time in IPL history that RCB has won the title. When it comes to fans, RCB has a very strong fan base, and it is impossible to talk about the team without mentioning one player—Virat Kohli—whose presence has brought tremendous fan support to the team.
