- Three men on a motorcycle fired at actor Tiger Shroff's BMW near Pushpa Park in Juhu on Sunday evening, October 18.
- Shroff was not hurt. His driver and an auto-rickshaw driver were taken to Nanavati Hospital.
- A post attributed to gangsters Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu claims the attack for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Police have not confirmed it.
- Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch are going through CCTV footage. No arrests had been reported at the time of writing.
Tiger Shroff was on his way home from a football game on Sunday evening when somebody started shooting at his car.
It happened near Pushpa Park in Juhu, inside the limits of Juhu police station. Three men on a motorcycle pulled up, and one of them fired. Most reports say three rounds hit or went at the BMW. A few put the number at five. Nobody has pinned it down yet, and police haven't tried to.
Shroff came out of it with nothing. A police official said he was safe and had no gunshot injuries, and then repeated it for the reporters who kept asking.
His driver wasn't so lucky. He was hurt and taken to Nanavati Hospital. So was an auto-rickshaw driver who happened to be on the same stretch of road. Early reports called him a passerby, and later ones were more specific. How badly either man is injured had not been made public when this was written.
There's a video, too. It's been all over social media since the evening, showing what looks like the gunfire. Police haven't said whether it's genuine.
One detail in the reports deserves more attention than it's getting. A group of fans had reportedly gathered near the spot hoping for a glimpse of the actor. So the shots went off on a street with people standing on it.
Jackie Shroff's team moved fast to calm things down. They told India Today that Tiger was okay, three words that did a lot of work on a night when rumours were running ahead of facts.
Then the message arrived.
A social media post, plus an audio clip, began circulating within the hour. A man calling himself Anil Pandit said he spoke for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. A second name, Harman Sandhu, an overseas-based gangster, was attached to the post as well.
Their version: Shroff had ignored the gang's instructions. And anyone in the film industry who works with Salman Khan, or outside the gang's wishes, should expect to be killed.
Nobody has checked this. Mumbai Police say they are trying to work out whether the post is real, which is the right call. Gangs have taken credit for things before, sometimes for attacks they had little to do with, and these posts tend to come from abroad, where they're hard to trace back to a person.
But the Salman Khan name isn't thrown in at random. The gang's quarrel with him goes back years. In April 2024, shots were fired outside his Bandra home, and a post claiming that one surfaced within hours too.
The Crime Branch has joined the local police. Officers are pulling CCTV footage from the area around Pushpa Park, hoping to follow the motorcycle and its three riders. One official said the sequence of events was still being pieced together.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis phoned Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti to ask about the incident. State minister Ashish Shelar spoke to the Commissioner as well and later confirmed that the actor was safe. Rediff reported that Fadnavis directed the city's top cop to look into the shooting.
As for a motive, police haven't offered one. The gang's claim is a line of inquiry for now, nothing more.
Filmmaker Rohit Shetty's home in Juhu was fired on in an earlier incident, and a post blamed on members of the Bishnoi network took credit for that one as well. It described the shooting as a "small trailer" of what might follow. Mumbai Police later detained five men from Pune. Some of them were reportedly connected to one of the gang members named in the post.
Two shootings, one neighbourhood, a gang claim attached to each. The film industry in Mumbai has long had heavy security around its biggest names, and a motorcycle and a few seconds were enough on Sunday.
Shroff hasn't issued a public statement. Police haven't said whether his security will change. The driver's condition is the thing to watch tonight, and after that, whether the footage gives investigators a face.
