President Donald Trump has halted the planned attack on Iran that was scheduled for Thursday, a move he had hinted at just a few hours earlier. According to several news reports, negotiations between the United States and Iran have reached their final stages, and a final agreement between the two countries could be reached at any moment.

Based on the fact that negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran have reached the highest levels of the Iranian leadership and have received approval, I, as President of the United States, have canceled the attacks and bombings against Iran that were scheduled for this evening," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He added, "The discussions and final points, both conceptual and detailed, have been approved by all parties involved."
Trump named the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt as the countries involved in the approval process.
He further stated, "Until this agreement is finalized, the naval blockade will remain fully in effect."
He also said, "The time and location of the signing ceremony will be announced shortly.

This is not the first time that Trump has said a deal with Iran is close. He has made similar claims several times before, but a final agreement has yet to be reached. We will have to wait and see what happens this time, as previous negotiations with Iran did not result in a completed deal.
Since the conflict between the United States and Iran began, U.S. officials have remained in constant contact with mediators in an effort to manage tensions and keep diplomatic channels open.
A Qatari delegation was in Tehran this week for discussions regarding the proposed agreement.
Trump has made similar statements about a deal being close several times before. Earlier, in March 2026, he said that Iran was ‘begging for a deal.' After that, in April 2026, he again stated while announcing a ceasefire on April 7 that talks had progressed ‘very far’ and that a deal could be reached within the next week.
Once again, in May 2026, Trump said that Iran is ‘dying for a deal’ and that a deal will happen very soon.
Even in June 2026, Trump said that a deal with Iran was underway, but he has not always been accurate, as since the war with Iran began, many meetings have taken place, yet no final agreement has been reached—only ceasefires so far.
Amid these claims, the ceasefire between Iran and the US has effectively turned into a war-like situation. The US is carrying out attacks on Iran, while Iran is responding by striking US bases in the Middle East. Incidents such as the downing of an American helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing US retaliatory strikes continue.
In this context, political analysts in Washington believe that Trump is repeatedly doing this as part of a strategy to keep the crude oil market stable and to project himself as a skilled ‘deal-maker.’
Major attacks between the two countries after the April 2026 ceasefire are as follows:
U.S. Apache helicopter, Iranian military installations, MT Settebello oil tanker, Kuwait airbase, Bahrain naval headquarters, Jordan command center, and the Strait of Hormuz.
