The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Omar Abdullah has tied the knot with TV journalist Nidhi Razdan in a modest wedding ceremony in New Delhi.
The sources have revealed to PTI that the marriage has been performed according to the Special Marriage Act on Friday, October 30, 2026, where members from both families have served as witnesses. The wedding has remained discreet until now, and the news came to light when the couple posted their picture on social media sites.
As per the provisions of the Special Marriage Act, a civil marriage can take place, which does not require any religious marriage ceremony to be performed.

On October 31, Saturday, Abdullah uploaded four photographs on X and Instagram, describing the image with just one sentence where he said that a new journey started the previous day and tagging Razdan.
Razdan, on her part, used the same images with a humorous post that read, "It's done, bro." The ring emoji was added to it. Both the announcements were informal, considering the nature of the ceremony.
Abdullah is 56 years old, and Razdan is 49 years old. This is Razdan’s second marriage, reported PTI. Soon after the post went up on the social media platform, PTI, The Print, Business Today, The Week, and Exchange4media, among others, picked up the story. Since there was no other announcement from either side, the report carried the statements and pictures of the couple.
While the wedding ceremony took place in Srinagar and New Delhi, the function was attended by relatives from both the sides of the family. The family of Abdullah comprised of his parents, who are former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and Mollie Abdullah along with his three sisters. The parents of Razdan were M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan.
While describing the function, the media termed it as a family gathering rather than an open function for public attendance.

This wedding is held three months after the apex court annulled Abdullah’s marriage to Payal Abdullah, which took place on July 31, 2026.
This was due to the fact that the two entered into a settlement agreement and decided to go their separate ways. As per The Week, the two have been staying separate from each other since 2009, and their marriage took place on September 1, 1994.
Neither party made an official statement regarding the reason behind the separation.
The significant dates in the story are brief but precise. Omar and Payal Abdullah tied the knot on September 1, 1994, and they have not cohabited since 2009.
The marriage was declared null and void by the Supreme Court on July 31, 2026, following the settlement arrived at by both parties. Three months after, on October 30, 2026, Abdullah got married to Razdan in New Delhi through the Special Marriage Act, and the news of the wedding was made public the very next day, on October 31, 2026.
From the timeline above, it is clear that the court order took place first, while the second marriage happened immediately thereafter.
