A few days ago, the second round of US–Iran talks was supposed to happen, but Iran did not attend, and the meeting was cancelled. However, now the White House has said that Witkoff and Kushner are going to Pakistan tomorrow to try to talk with Iran.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Friday that Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are going to Pakistan tomorrow to hold talks with Iran.
She said while speaking to a news channel that she can now confirm that Special Envoy Witkoff and Jared Kushner are leaving for Pakistan tomorrow morning and may hold direct talks with members of the Iranian delegation, with Pakistan acting as a mediator.
Leavitt said that Iran contacted the United States, and as the president had directed, a request was made for face-to-face talks.
Some news reports said that this week Trump will send Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan to meet Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and if the talks make progress, US Vice President JD Vance will be ready to travel to Islamabad, Pakistan.
Leavitt said that the US Vice President is deeply involved in the entire process, and the President, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the entire national security team are staying fully updated with the latest information.
She further said that if needed, everyone is ready to travel to Pakistan.

Iranian government news reports have denied the claim that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is planning to meet US officials in Pakistan for talks.
The Tasnim News Agency reported that Iran currently has no agenda to hold talks with the United States and that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is going to Pakistan but not to meet US officials.
Instead, Iran will discuss its views with the Pakistani side regarding ending the conflict/war situation and related regional issues.
Araghchi said that he is travelling to Pakistan, Russia, and Oman so that they can work together on bilateral issues and consult on regional developments.
