Since US President Donald Trump returned to power, a global trade war has intensified. The United States has announced additional tariffs on imports from several major countries, and many of these countries, including China, India, and Brazil, have been affected by the new tariff measures.
Trade between the US and China has been ongoing over the past year, and the trade war between the two countries is affecting the entire world.
In October last year, the US and China reached an understanding to pause the trade war. The United States also held back its proposed major tariff increases against China at that time as part of the agreement.
In response, China also eased some restrictions on the export of rare earth materials.
The White House said that both leaders agreed to establish a “trade board.” The main purpose of this mechanism is to avoid repeated tariff disputes and to help manage and stabilize trade relations more effectively.
US officials said that it will take some time to implement this agreement.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that this visit could lead to a major Boeing order from China and also some announcements related to China’s purchases of American energy and agricultural products.
During this US visit to China, the presence of business leaders also remained a major topic of discussion in the business community.
US President Donald Trump had said that top business leaders were part of this visit, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, which generated significant discussion.
There is strong competition between the US and China in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, especially between Tesla from the US and BYD from China. This rivalry is currently playing out globally as both companies compete for market share. Many people around the world are also watching closely and questioning whether any agreement or deal will be reached in this ongoing competition.
Tesla has a major manufacturing plant in Shanghai, and the company is heavily dependent on this facility for its production and global supply chain.
At the same time, the US has already taken several steps to control China’s access to advanced computing technologies.
Today is the second day of President Trump’s visit, and it is expected that the leaders of both countries may discuss several major issues.

So far, no major business deals have been announced in the ongoing meetings between China and the US. However, people are hopeful that new agreements could still be reached between the two countries in the coming discussions.
