American actress Selma Blair, famous for her roles in movies like "Cruel Intentions," "Legally Blonde" and "Hellboy," has been summoned by the law after being accused of disturbing the peace during a flight with Delta Air Lines on October 11, 2026.

The accusations have come about after an incident in which the plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. Blair was arrested, and she also received medical treatment. According to her agents, she had a medical emergency due to her MS diagnosis.

An Alleged Disturbance Aboard the Aircraft

Reuters reports that the case happened on a flight between Los Angeles and New York. The identification of Blair as the offending passenger was done following complaints by flight attendants of a physically aggressive passenger. Two flight attendants were reported to be injured, and one was hospitalized.

Upon the landing of the flight at JFK Airport, officers arrested Blair and had her taken for a medical examination. In addition to these charges, Blair is also alleged to have kicked a police officer who was arresting her and a nurse at the hospital.

The claims raise some questions about the safety of passengers and the responsibilities of flight attendants. As part of their duties, flight attendants are supposed to maintain safety on the aircraft and handle any emergencies. The medical state of Blair and what led to her actions are issues yet to be sorted out.

Legal Proceedings and Blair's Response

Based on the report from Entertainment Weekly, Blair has entered a plea of not guilty to the two counts of assault in the second degree committed in Queens, New York. In addition, the bail amount was set to be $20,000 in cash or $60,000 in bonds, with the next appearance of Blair to be on January 19, 2027.

The federal authorities are currently investigating claims associated with the incident onboard the plane. Blair's legal team maintains that her actions were not intentional but rather related to a medical emergency.

Delta Airlines reiterated its position on having a strict no-tolerance policy towards any unruly or illegal activities in an effort to ensure the safety of the passengers and crew members.

It should be noted that the claims are allegations, and Blair is innocent until proven otherwise.

Selma Blair's Career and Rise to Fame

Selma Blair was born on June 23, 1972, in Southfield, Michigan, United States. Before achieving recognition in Hollywood, Blair began to develop an interest in acting. She attended classes at the University of Michigan before venturing into the entertainment business.

Through her role in the 1999 movie Cruel Intentions, Blair became recognized as an up-and-coming actress. In 2001, Blair made an appearance as Vivian Kensington in the comedy movie Legally Blonde, thus becoming famous internationally.

She later made appearances in the movies The Sweetest Thing and Hellboy, where she played the role of Liz Sherman and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, respectively.

Some of the other work that Blair did includes working in television as well as independent movies. She has achieved success in making her career with some unique and unconventional characters.

Her Battle With Multiple Sclerosis

Blair announced that in 2018, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a long-term illness that impacts the functioning of the central nervous system.

This disease affects the communication between the brain and the body, resulting in a variety of symptoms, including fatigue, weakness in muscles, numbness, and problems with balance.

Blair admitted that she felt unexplained symptoms for many years until the diagnosis. She helped raise awareness of the issues that people who live with chronic illnesses have by going public about the disease she suffers from.

In 2021, she participated in the documentary called Introducing, Selma Blair, in which the experience of having MS and the way it is managed were explored. It gave viewers an opportunity to understand Blair's challenges better.

In 2022, she published her autobiography entitled Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up. The book deals with Blair's childhood, acting career, and the difficulties she had before and after the diagnosis.

The fact that Selma Blair publicly speaks about her disabilities and the need for medical aid makes people discuss the issue and draw attention to it.

However, it is the diagnosis itself that cannot serve as the evidence of what happened in the airplane. The link between Selma Blair's health condition and the alleged incident should be considered by means of the appropriate medical evidence.
