In the West Bengal elections, the most widely discussed seat has now declared its result. In the Falta Assembly constituency, BJP candidate Debangshu Panda has registered a major victory.
In this constituency, BJP candidate Debangshu Panda received a total of 149,666 votes. In terms of percentage, this accounts for 71.2% of the total votes cast in the seat, all of which went in favor of the BJP.
In this constituency, the second position was secured by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate Shambhu Nath Kurmi, who received 40,645 votes (19.34%).
The third position went to Congress candidate Abdur Razzaq, who got 10,084 votes (4.8%).
In this result, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) did not even make it into the top three, marking a complete wipeout for the party in this constituency.
However, the Falta Assembly seat had been held by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) since 2011, but in this election, the party even lost its security deposit.
This seat has been widely discussed because voting is being conducted again here. After complaints of EVM tampering and voter intimidation, the Election Commission ordered a re-election in this constituency.
Re-polling will be held across all 285 booths on 21 May 2026, following allegations of irregularities during the earlier voting process.
There was heavy voting in the Falta Assembly constituency, with a turnout of 88% recorded.
In this election, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Jahangir Khan withdrew from campaigning just a few days before the voting. However, his name still remained on the ballot paper despite stepping back from the campaign.
With this victory, the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 process has been completely concluded. In the 294-member state assembly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the largest party with 208 seats.
With this record-breaking victory, Debanshu Panda has become the youngest BJP MLA from South 24 Parganas district to enter the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
