n a program, PM Modi said that people should avoid buying gold and instead use their resources for productive work and increase the use of petrol and diesel only when necessary for essential activities. On this statement, two senior opposition leaders have given their respective reactions.
PM Modi made this statement on Sunday during his visit to Telangana, at an event in Secunderabad, where he spoke about the need to save foreign exchange reserves.
PM Modi has said that in order to save foreign exchange reserves, people should avoid buying gold and use petrol and diesel only when necessary, so that foreign currency can be conserved.
On this, government leaders Amit Shah and Ashwini Vaishnaw also supported the statement, saying that this appeal should be followed.

Rahul Gandhi reacted to this and said, “This is a sign of failure. Now the public is being told what to buy and what not to buy.”
Rahul Gandhi wrote about this on the X platform.
“Modi ji yesterday asked the public to make sacrifices — don’t buy gold, don’t travel abroad, use less petrol, reduce fertilizer and cooking oil consumption, travel by metro, and work from home.
These are not suggestions — these are proofs of failure.
In 12 years, the country has been brought to a point where people are being told what to buy and what not to buy, where to go and where not to go. Every time, responsibility is shifted onto the public so that accountability is avoided.
Running the country is no longer within the capacity of a compromised PM.

After Prime Minister Modi’s appeal, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the crisis seems to have been remembered only after the elections are over.
Akhilesh Yadav said this on X.
“As soon as the elections ended, the ‘crisis’ was suddenly remembered!
In fact, for the country there is only one ‘crisis’ and its name is: BJP.
If so many restrictions had to be imposed, then how will the so-called ‘five trillion dollar economy’ be achieved? It seems the BJP government has completely lost control. The dollar is touching the sky and the country’s rupee is sinking.
The appeal of not buying gold should be made not to the public but to BJP members and their corrupt people, because the public anyway cannot afford gold worth ₹1.5 lakh per tola. It is the BJP people who are busy converting their black money into gold. If you think I am wrong, you can check from Lucknow to Gorakhpur or from Ahmedabad to Guwahati.
By the way, why are all these restrictions being remembered only after elections? Were the thousands of chartered flights used by BJP leaders in elections running on water? Were they not staying in hotels or eating food prepared by putting cylinder photos? Why didn’t BJP leaders campaign through video conferencing during elections? Are all restrictions only for the public?
Such appeals will create fear, anxiety, and confusion in trade, business, and markets due to fears of recession and inflation. The government’s job is to use its resources properly to handle emergency situations, not to spread fear or panic.
If they cannot run the government, BJP leaders should accept their failure instead of ruining the country. In fact, the real reason behind this situation is that the BJP government has moved away from India’s traditional non-aligned foreign policy due to certain pressures and alignments with specific groups. The common people are bearing the consequences in the form of inflation, unemployment, poverty, and recession. From farmers and workers to youth, housewives, professionals, and businessmen—everyone is affected. The truth is that the BJP has failed in both foreign and domestic policy. This appeal is itself an admission of failure. After getting votes, BJP’s shortcomings have been exposed.
BJP leaders have polluted politics with election scams, destroyed social harmony by spreading hatred, harmed culture and traditions through their actions, even targeted saints and religion, and now they are crying over the economy. In this way, BJP has ruined the country socially, culturally, politically, religiously, and economically. After this appeal, the anger among the people will rise sharply, and BJP will not be able to handle it with any electoral tricks. Now BJP will go forever.
