A new political controversy has emerged in Bihar over the alleged non-vacation of Rabri Devi's government bungalow. Addressing a public gathering after inspecting a cooperation camp in Parsoni Nath Panchayat of Muzaffarpur, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said:
“The bungalow will definitely be vacated. No one on earth can stop it. No one can prevent it from happening. The house will have to be vacated. This is not a monarchy; it is a democracy.”
His remarks come amid the ongoing dispute over the government residence, which has become a major political issue in the state.
Without directly naming Rabri Devi or Tejashwi Yadav, Samrat Choudhary further remarked:
“The mother wants a separate bungalow; the son wants a separate one. The husband, wife, and son each want separate security arrangements. This cannot continue.”
Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi has been asked to vacate the government bungalow at 10 Circular Road. On May 30, the Patna district administration issued an order directing her to vacate the residence within 15 days.
Earlier, Rabri Devi had refused to vacate the bungalow and said, "If Samrat Choudhary wants the bungalow vacated, he can bring in force and get it done."
Meanwhile, the Building Construction Department has allotted the bungalow at 10 Circular Road to Bihar's Animal and Fisheries Resources Minister Nand Kishore Ram.
However, Rabri Devi has not yet vacated the bungalow. According to officials, Minister Nand Kishore Ram has repeatedly approached the authorities to inquire when the residence will be vacated and handed over to him.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi has also been allotted a new bungalow at 39 Harding Road.
Meanwhile, former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday summoned Building Construction Minister Leshi Singh. After the meeting, Leshi Singh said,
“Legal and due process action is being taken.”

Since the formation of the NDA government in Bihar, this issue has been ongoing and continues to remain a matter of dispute.
In this case, the first notice to vacate the bungalow was issued to Rabri Devi in November 2025.
After that, the second notice was issued on 29 May 2026 by the Building Construction Department to Rabri Devi.
Two days later, on 31 May 2026, the Patna district administration issued a third notice, directing that the bungalow be vacated within 15 days.
On 2 June, the Bihar Chief Minister stated that the bungalow will have to be vacated.
Leaders of the RJD, including members of the Lalu family and Rohini Acharya, have alleged that the NDA government is deliberately harassing the Lalu family and trying to insult them. They also stated that the family has been living in the same bungalow for the past 20 years.
The RJD has also alleged that the government is discriminating against them, stating that several leaders are occupying bungalows in violation of rules, yet no action is being taken against them.
Rabri Devi strongly rejected the eviction notice and told the media:
“No matter what happens, I will not vacate the bungalow. Let the government do whatever it wants. If needed, they can bring police force and forcibly remove us from here.”
RJD workers have indicated that if any action is taken, they will take to the streets in protest.
The notice issued on 31 May 2026 requires the bungalow to be vacated within 15 days. If this deadline is not followed, the administration may take legal steps, including forced eviction. If such action is carried out, it could potentially lead to a major political and administrative controversy in Bihar.
